What should your fire hose cabinet include?

A cabinet is not a complete standpipe system by itself. Its enclosure, internal equipment, mounting and connection must match the approved hose-station arrangement.

How it is arranged

The cabinet provides an accessible enclosure for the specified hose valve and, where required, hose, nozzle, rack, reel or other equipment connected to the standpipe system.

Where it fits

Installed at designated hose-station locations shown on the approved fire-protection plan. Surface-mounted, recessed or semi-recessed construction depends on the wall, access and architectural coordination.

What we check

Cabinet dimensions and material, mounting type, door swing and glazing, hose and nozzle specification, valve size, rack or reel, signage, clear access, standpipe connection and corrosion exposure.
